Happy St. Patrick's Day

Of course the boys had matching green shirts for St. Patrick's Day. Why not??

Springtime Tallahassee 5K

This past weekend I ran my first ever 5K. I had a great time, and plan on trying to do some more. There were over 1,000 people who either participated in the 1 mile, 5K, or 10K. When the race began I had to walk a few feet before I could even find room to run. It was challenging to work your way around others, but that just added to the fun. The only "technical" difficulty I had was my shoelace coming untied, and having to stop to tie it. Other than that it was a very smooth run. Andy and I worked on a "race day mix" that we put on his iPod. I had it playing pretty loudly, and during the race I kept wondering if anyone else could hear my music. If so, they probably thought it was a teenage girl behind them, with my Fergie and Eminem and Sir-Mix-a-Lot. Whatever gets you going, right?!

This is a picture of the boys and I before leaving the house that morning.

This is just after crossing the finish line. I found out later that my official time was 25:31, and I came in 3rd out of 65 in my age division, and 33rd out of 405 who ran the 5K.

Here is Drew listening to my iPod right after the race

Mommy and her boys after the race.

Andy dropped me off and the race and then went to his office which was close by. He fed the boys breakfast and then hustled over to the finish line so that they would be there to cheer me on when I crossed the finish line. It was great to see them after I was done.

My friend Tara ran the race as well. It was a lot more fun to meet up with someone before and after, then being there alone. She's planning on doing some more as well.

Universal Studios...

Back in February we headed to Orlando to go to Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure. It was actually a work event for Andy, but when I heard where they were going, I made sure he knew it would be a "family" event as well. Andy's new job has him in charge of House of Representative Republican campaigns for the state of Florida, so this was a fundraiser with legislators, their families, and donors. We had a great time! Drew was really excited and couldn't wait to see the hotel. He still says that was his favorite part. Go figure....

Here's a picture of the Hard Rock Hotel where we stayed. We had a few hours of free time on Saturday, so Drew and Andy did some swimming. It was really cool. There was a great band performing, and it was beautiful weather. We walked back to our hotel for our break time and this was what happened about 30 seconds before getting back. Passed out....

Knox was excited to be in Orlando as well.
The way our day worked is that we were all assigned to "Tour Groups" and our guide would take us to the ride and get us right on. At the most I would say we would wait 1-2 minutes. I don't know how we'll ever go to a theme park any other way again. This is after Andy rode the Hulk (which is in the background). Drew was really upset when he went. I think he was worried about him.
When we arrived the first night we ate at the hotel. It was a great ambiance, but I wouldn't say the same about the food. This was a play area for kids to be, while we waited to eat.
My salad came out in a collander which was a cool presentation, but difficult to eat from. It kept sliding around.

Our bread basket was filled with all kinds of bread. One of our favorites tasted like pretzels.

more of the room....this is the bed Drew and I slept on. Andy had the other all to himself.

That night was a Mardi Gras celebration. It was really neat. They had an area roped off between some of the buildings and catered it for us. We had people walking around passing out beads just for our group, and even a balloon animal "artist" on stilts. You'll see that picture if you scroll down. It's a little dark.

Drew and the beginning of his beads

Us with the Cat in the Hat in Seussland. That was a really fun part of the park for Drew. Lately he has been into Dr. Seuss books so it was fun to ride some of the rides now that he knows some of the stories.

More swimming

Knox just before he took a little nap. I thought he was stay asleep for awhile in my sling, but there was a lot of disruption, so he took about a 20 minute nap, but he never got fussy and did great.

Heading back to the hotel we saw Curious George and had to get a picture with him.

Waiting to head into the Barney show which was a definite highlight for Drew. You aren't supposed to take pictures in the show, and the rule follower that I am listened, but I wish you could have seen his face. He was enamored.

Happy Valentine's Day

Our Valentine's Day was very busy. We started off the morning saying good-bye to Andy, because he was headed out of town for the night. The we dressed in red and headed to a party with our play group. We had a great time, and so did the kids. There was, of course, lots of yummy food and the kids got to exchange Valentines. Here's everyone (minus one who wasn't wanting a picture) Here is Knox hanging out with his buddies (or girlfriends:))

The boys at home before we left.

After our party we came home, took naps, got up and headed to a birthday party at a bounce house. We left that a few minutes early, so that we could rush home and eat dinner, so that I could go to church to share with some Children's Volunteers about Drew asking Jesus into his heart. Then I came home, fell into bed, and was woken up all night by our monitor going on the fritz (spelling?). At least Andy was home by the next afternoon. (which was actually Valentine's Day.) All of the rest of it happened on the 13th. I just remembered that....

Bull Riding

Last month the Professional Bull Riders came to town and we were given tickets to go and see them. It ended up being a lot of fun. Here's Drew waiting for it to begin. The openning was a little scary for Drew. It had fire and a lot of loud noises, but was really cool for the adults. Mommy and the boys watching

Here's Drew watching one of the bulls. You can barely see them in the background.
Here is Drew with one of his favorite parts. The tractor that came out to level the arena.
